Taxing the limits
That the post offices are open until midnight on April 15th so that last-minute tax returns may be submitted without missing the deadline is proof that procrastination is as American as baseball, apple pie, and getting out of jury duty.
Except for those of us who don't bother to file (47 percent of the population, according to recent news reports). Besides, if I paid taxes, my money would just be wasted anyway. ;-)
Marvin, I think it's that 47 percent don't have to pay because their income falls below a certain level but they still have to file (even just to prove they don't have to pay anything). Everyone gets the joy of scrambling to the post office (I think)!
